Vestibular Physio

Dizziness and vertigo are treatable — often surprisingly quickly. Our certified vestibular physiotherapists in Surrey assess and treat balance and inner-ear disorders for patients across Surrey and Langley, frequently resolving symptoms in just a few sessions.

What Conditions Does Vestibular Rehab Treat?

  • BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) — the most common cause of spinning episodes
  • Vertigo and dizziness of inner-ear origin
  • Balance disorders and unsteadiness
  • Vestibular migraine-related dizziness
  • Persistent postural-perceptual dizziness (PPPD)

What Happens At Your First Appointment?

We take a detailed history of your symptoms and perform positional testing, gaze stability and balance assessments — screening first for anything that needs medical attention. If your pattern matches BPPV, a repositioning maneuver often provides relief immediately or within days.

Is Vertigo Dangerous?

Vertigo itself is rarely dangerous, but it increases fall risk and disrupts daily life. Some causes do require a physician, so we coordinate with your family doctor when needed. Research supports vestibular rehabilitation exercises as a first-line, non-drug treatment for most inner-ear causes.

How Long Does Vestibular Rehab Take?

BPPV often resolves in 1–3 visits. Habituation programs for longer-standing imbalance typically run 4–8 weeks with a home exercise program you do independently.

Do I Need A Referral Or Special Testing?

No referral needed. Imaging is rarely useful for inner-ear causes; bedside positional testing tells us far more about how your balance system behaves day to day.

What Should I Do During A Vertigo Episode?

Sit or lie down before symptoms peak, avoid sudden head turns toward the affected side, and keep rooms well lit during the day — darkness worsens sensory conflict. Most episodes settle within minutes; driving waits until you have been symptom-free between episodes. Do not self-perform repositioning maneuvers before assessment: the wrong maneuver for your pattern can move crystals into a canal that makes vertigo harder to treat. Bring an episode timeline to your first appointment — duration and triggers often clinch the diagnosis faster than any single test.
